CTE Educator, Certificate of Completion

The CTE Educator Certificate Program equips industry experts with foundational skills to be successful educators in their areas of professional expertise. Participants will develop essential skills to organize content, craft developmentally appropriate and culturally competent instructional strategies, and assess student learning. This certificate is designed to support industry experts as they move into teaching roles within middle and high school CTE programs. The coursework aligns with the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) requirements for industry experts aspiring to obtain an Oregon Restricted or Preliminary CTE license.

Additionally, we provide professional development for post-secondary CTE faculty and instructors teaching across CTE career areas to improve their teaching skills. This program focuses on foundational skills to translate your professional expertise into a classroom context.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will be able to :

PLO 1 - Integrate academic and technical knowledge to align with industry standards and emerging trends in both industry and education

PLO 2 - Adhere to the ethics, responsibilities, and professional practices required of CTE educators, including: student confidentiality, mandatory reporting, licensure and model core teaching standards

PLO 3 - Apply the intended premise for career and technical educators as defined by the Carl Perkins Act of 2018 and its implementation in Oregon, including providing equitable access to all students, within their own CTE programs

PLO 4 - Implement research-based best practices of effective instructional design, delivery, and assessment in CTE and integrate the principles of culturally responsive teaching within each

PLO 5 - Apply education theory to create, adapt, and differentiate instruction in culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate ways
