ED 111 Mathematics and Literacy in CTE Teaching

This course is designed to support CTE educators who are pursuing CTE licensure in Oregon and/or desiring professional development. Supports those who are either new to the teaching profession or existing teachers adding an endorsement to teach in a career & technical education program of study. Students receive practical strategies for integrating mathematics and literacy content into CTE courses.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Apply culturally responsive principles in the development of curricular CTE materials
2. Identify authentic opportunities and strategies to integrate mathematical reasoning (across domains of Algebra, Geometry, Data, and Numeracy) in their CTE career area
3. Demonstrate content area literacy in the CTE classroom and apply high leverage research-based instructional strategies in literacy at the middle and high school levels
4. Create or revise a current project from their CTE career area to integrate math and literacy standards into their course
