RC 202 Outpatient Respiratory Care

This course discusses the role of the Respiratory Care Practitioner in outpatient settings including Pulmonary Rehab, Home Care, Sleep Lab, and Pulmonary Function Testing with an emphasis on patient education and safety.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Educate patients in the outpatient setting on ways to improve their pulmonary health based on their condition
2. Instruct patients through tests performed in the pulmonary function lab
3. Create recommendations and care plans based on patient evaluations
4. Describe sleep disorders and the diagnostic tools used to evaluate them
5. Describe the role of the respiratory care practitioner in the home setting with an emphasis on patient safety and education on the use of home respiratory devices
