ART 299D Digital Tools for Visual Artists

This course combines traditional and digital media. Students will work with 2D files (bitmap and vector) and 3D files to prototype and render physical installations, paintings, murals, compositions, sculptural works, and objects. Students will leverage digital tools to aid in the creation and realization of their physical artwork.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 
1. Use rendering software to scale and plan 2-dimensional artwork for murals and large-scale works
2. Differentiate between the applications of bitmap and vector-based files and software
3. Produce 3-dimensional projects through the use of vector-based software
4. Prototype sculptures and/or installations using 3-dimensional modeling software
5. Apply digital tools in the creation and realization of physical artwork
