ART 220 Documentary Photography

Explore the creation and historical impact of documentary photography. Lecture and discussion is based on the impact of images through history and how images of historical, cultural, and social significance are helping to shape our contemporary history and viewpoints. Students will create a still-photo documentary story during the term.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Discuss historical and contemporary topics of documentary photography

2. Structure a photo story by doing comprehensive research for the topic that has been selected

3. Structure a workable timeline and create contacts to complete the necessary images through access

4. Create a shooting list that is essential to create a strong narrative

5. Produce a completed documentary photo story by shooting, editing and presenting
