RC 100 Respiratory Care Ethics and Professionalism

This course provides instruction in professionalism, communication, conflict resolution, cultural competency, health literacy, and legal/ethical issues relevant to the practice of respiratory care.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Utilize professional ethical models and the AARC code of conduct guide ethical decision making
2. Incorporate legal obligations and guidelines to the practice of respiratory care
3. Describe the roles and professional responsibilities of the respiratory care practitioner
4. Provide professional and culturally competent therapeutic communications with respect for other viewpoints
5. Identify conflict resolution strategies in the workplace
6. Relate issues of liability to safe produce use and safe delivery of patient care
