NRS 430 Technology and Informatics

This course provides RN to BSN students the opportunity to explore the foundational principles of nursing informatics, including data management, information theory, and the evolution of informatics in healthcare. Students will gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in utilizing information technology to enhance patient care, improve healthcare processes, and contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession. Throughout this course, students will be empowered to enhance patient care, streamline clinical processes, and contribute to healthcare innovation through the proficient use of informatics. They will learn techniques for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting healthcare data, leveraging data analytics to support clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice. Additionally, students will navigate the complexities of maintaining patient confidentiality, securing health data, and addressing ethical challenges in the digital healthcare landscape. By the end of the course, students will be proficient in the application of informatics tools to improve patient outcomes, optimize clinical workflows, and stay at the forefront of technological advancements in healthcare.
