DA 108 Dental Health Education 2

This course reinforces the practical application of preventive dentistry concepts and oral hygiene instruction learned in Dental Health Ed 1. Clinic includes alginate impressions, plaque indexing and OHI, clinical exam charting, coronal polishing, fluoride application, the recognition of normal and abnormal oral conditions, and community project presentations.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Accurately chart clinical findings, doctor notes, and procedure details utilizing digital software

2. Plan appropriate oral hygiene presentation for a target group

3. Apply correct procedures to effectively perform coronal polishing

4. Apply knowledge of oral pathology terms and conditions in order to identify lesions or abnormalities

5. Obtain diagnostic alginate impressions on patients
