XSKR 0517E GED Acceleration

This is a GED class for students who wish to accelerate their GED completion by building on their foundational reading and writing skills, in order to enter college or a career. Reading strategies are developed to evaluate and analyze increasingly difficult texts as required on the GED. Readings will range from multiple paragraph passages to several pages. Writing will range from short answers to essays in argumentative style in order to meet the traits of the RLA writing portion of the GED. Science and Social studies are emphasized.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students will gain the critical reading and writing skills and knowledge adults must have for success in college, technical training, and careers. Courses provide comprehensive instruction in English language arts/literacy, Social Studies, and Science specifically identifying what adults need to know to be prepared for postsecondary education, training, and employment. This includes completion of high school equivalency, the GED, and preparation for entering postsecondary education and/or employment.
