This course develops basic literacy skills and strategies needed for reading, writing by increasing the knowledge base, range, and fluency in reading and writing. Students will determine what text says to ask and answer questions about key details; determine central ideas or themes to identify the main topic and retell key; and write simple narratives and informative texts in which they name a topic, supply some facts or details about the topic, and provide some sense of closure.
