XAPP 5979 Anatomy/Physiology/Pathology 1
Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology 1 (APP 1) is a prerequisite for all other APP courses. It introduces the studies of structure and function of the human body as well as dysfunctions that appear as injury or disease. Topics covered include the organization of the human body, fundamentals of cell biology, the structure and composition of skin, and skin conditions commonly encountered by massage therapists. By the end of this course students are expected to have a solid comprehension of general definitions of health and wellness, anatomy, introductory chemistry, cellular structures, body tissues, the integumentary system, pathologies related to the integumentary system and factors that affect healing, and assessment of the skin.
