1. Articulate the distinct nature of a sociological perspective or approach for understanding social phenomena
2. Outline the role of theory and evidence in building sociological knowledge
3. Illustrate how fundamental concepts in sociology (culture, social structure, stratification, socialization, institutions, deviance, social control) relate to everyday life
4. Apply sociological concepts, theory and research to analyze contemporary social issues
5. Use sociological knowledge and skills to discuss the relationship between social institutions and individual agency
