FN 190 Sports Nutrition

This course presents the role of a variety of nutrients in maintaining a body that is healthy and that supports athletic performance. Skills are developed to create an eating and hydration plan to support athletic performance and to stay well-nourished.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify the role of a variety of nutrients in maintaining optimal health and supporting athletic performance
2. Develop balanced, enjoyable snacks and meals that meet the nutrition needs of athletes or active individuals
3. Evaluate supplements, food labels, and dietary patterns using evidence-based guidelines
4. Explain the importance of a moderate approach when it comes to nutrition and energy balance, recognizing that all foods can fit into a healthful diet
