CIS 195 Web Authoring 1

This course provides students with little computer experience the concepts and skills necessary to create static web pages using the current versions of Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Through hands-on practice students will master the concepts, tools and skills needed to construct web pages and publish pages to the internet.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the meaning and purpose of HTML elements and attributes
2. Write HTML code with the most commonly used HTML elements
3. Use Cascading style sheets (CSS) to style text and image elements as well as control their layout on a web page
4. Use HTML validator and a CSS validator to ensure the correctness of web pages
5. Use an FTP client to upload and manage files on a web server
6. Evaluate your web site implementation work and that of other students and provide constructive feedback in writing
