Algebra/trig-based General Physics sequence for science majors. Concepts include rotational motion, sound, wave phenomena and optics. Emphasizes conceptual understanding, mathematical representations, problem solving, applications and science skills. Lab included.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 
1. Apply forces, angular momentum, and energy to situations involving rotational motion
2. Apply forces and energy to problems situations involving fluids
3. Apply forces, angular momentum, and energy to situations involving vibrations
4. Apply forces, angular momentum, energy, and superposition to situations involving waves
5. Analyze ray diagrams and related equations in situations involving reflection, refraction, single, and multiple lenses
6. Apply Superposition and pathlength difference to situations involving interference and diffraction
7. Design and analyze modeling, testing and application type experiments
8. Solve physical problems using physics principles along with algebra/trig, extreme case analysis, proportional reasoning, and multiple representations
