PSY 203H General Psychology - Honors

The topics in this course (part of a 3 course offering) include: personality, social psychology; stress and coping; psychological disorders and their treatment. This honors class delves deeper into course topics and requires a high level of student motivation; the pace may be faster than non-honors courses. See lanecc.edu/honors for information. Students cannot receive credit for both PSY 203 and PSY 203H.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify major frameworks to describe personality
2. Recognize how behavior and thinking are influenced by social cognition and social/group influences. Recognize the causes of prosocial behavior and aggression
3. Recognize a variety of stressors, how they contribute to the physiological stress response and influence physical and psychological health. To identify how stress management contributes to physical and psychological health
4. Recognize the processes and criteria involved in identifying psychological disorders. Identify how psychological disorders can be addressed through various therapeutic approaches
