ECE 240 Supervised Student Teaching

Designed to provide the student with actual experience in the supervision, guidance, and care of young children based on NAEYC standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation. Students learn to demonstrate consistent appropriate guidance and plan and carry out a developmentally appropriate curriculum. A one hour weekly seminar on Zoom is required in addition to student teaching. Verification of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine documentation is required.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Choose effective positive guidance techniques to use with a variety of children
2. Use observations to assess the progress of young children and propose emergent curriculum plans to support learning
3. Analyze (and apply when appropriate) elements required in creating a successful Circle Time with young children
4. Evaluate (and implement when appropriate) small group activities and learning centers that promote playful inquiry and discovery
