XFS 9351 Fire Fighting

A comprehensive training course for fire service personnel. Includes: History of fire depts.; Use of fire apparatus; Forcible entry; Ladder and hose practices; Fire ventilation practices; Rescue and protective breathing practices; and Basic first aid.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Explore the history of fire departments, districts, and suppression methods
2. Gain the skills to effectively and competently use fire safety gear and suppression equipment to extinguish fires encountered in urban or rural settings including structure fires and wilderness wildfires
3. Become familiar with basic fire behaviors in a variety of environments
4. Learn standard best practice techniques First Aid, Fire Rescue, and protective breathing
5. Understand and gain proficiency in safety standards while fighting fires in a variety of environments
6. Gain experience with the use of ladders and hoses in relation to fire suppression
