TA 244 Acting for the Camera 2

This advanced acting for camera course builds, refines, and expands upon existing foundational skills. Students will delve deeper into character development, scene analysis, and on-camera performance. Topics include communicating subtext, camera blocking, responding to direction, industry-standard on-set and audition practices, and acting believably and compellingly in different genres and camera set-ups. Final project will prepare students to work in the industry.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Undertake sophisticated script analysis including defining beats and subtext, and creating detailed character backstory and arc

2. Respond constructively to direction and feedback

3. Create audition materials such as headshots, resumes, and acting reels that demonstrate industry standard audition skills

4. Apply industry-standard vocabulary and practices while on set

5. Create a plan for continued study and work in the industry based on historical and current practices of successful filmmakers and film actors

6. Apply advanced technical acting for camera skills
