2026-27 LCC Catalog > Courses > CS-Computer Science > 200 > CS 213
Building on CS 212, covers more ways to write AI-powered software using Large Language Models (LLMs). Students will learn to: use Model Context Protocol (MCP), fine-tune models, manage AI agents and run small LLMs on local computers while continuing to learn to do AI-assisted coding.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Analyze recent developments in AI and assess their relevance to their field of study
2. Effectively use AI to write and test computer software
3. Write software that uses or can be used by AI through the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
4. Fine-tune open LLMs for use in custom software applications
5. Run small LLMs "locally" on a consumer grade computer and write software to use a local LLM
6. Write software that uses AI agents
7. Apply critical thinking and actions in response to social and ethics issues presented by AI
